Asthma is increasing in Scotland and in other parts of the world. As a result of research into asthma a number of new treatments have become available.

However despite many years of work much remains to be done, for example:

Many patients with asthma have unacceptable levels of symptoms

Smokers with asthma do not respond as expected to treatment with inhaled steroids
The University of Glasgow’s Asthma Clinical Research Unit has gained international recognition for advancing the understanding of asthma.

We hope that through our research we can discover more effective treatments for asthma.
